The positive footprint we live by.

Doing business in a sustainable way

All our clothing is fully organic, PETA Vegan Approved, part of the FAIR WEAR organisation and all employees involved are paid & treated in a correct way. Our packaging is made out of recycled plastic.

  • Tshirts are made out of 100% Organic cotton
  • Sweaters & Hoodies are made out of 85% Organic, ring-spun cotton & 15% water bottle recycled polyester.

Sustainability is very important to Otterly Different. We’re getting greener every step of the way, while still providing you the quality products you deserve.

Around 85% of all textiles produced by the fashion industry end up in landfills, making it a major contributor to environmental damage. Added to that, one in every five items produced by the fashion industry reach landfills without being worn even once.

As Otterly Different works with on-demand suppliers, we only produce items we get an order for, avoiding textile waste from overproduction. Our printing partner's high-quality printing tech creates almost no wastewaters and uses less energy than standard industry printers.

Our clothing is printed with the direct-to-garment (DTG) printing method. The printing tech we use is made with sustainability in mind, and our Kornit printers use almost zero wastewater and less energy than standard industry printers, lowering our carbon footprint. The inks we use for printing are vegan, water-based, and free of harmful chemicals.
An extra word from our partner that is responsible for the apparel (t-shirts, sweaters, hoodies):
We source fiber yarns and knit yarns from sources locally and from the best suppliers around the globe. Because our sourcing is not restricted by any trade agreements, we have the ability to access the highest quality raw materials in the world, and in turn, make best fabrics in the industry.

By using newer, more efficient dye machines, we use 7x less water than the average for clothing manufacturers, saving 24 million gallons a week. Any water we do use goes through a filtration system that allows it to be recycled.

Our manufacturing facilities and LA Headquarters produce almost no landfill because we recycle pretty much everything that can't be turned into a tee. We've optimized our cutting to reduce plastic use, and excess fabric is recycled into several things like baby bibs or stuffing for upholstery.
An extra word from our partner that is responsible for the print & the handling of apparel:
“To take care of fabric waste in our Mexico and Charlotte facilities, we’ve partnered with waste management services, such as Geocycle and Martex. In total, we’ve sent 162,886 lbs (73,884 kgs) of fabric waste to recycling. But to reduce waste from being produced in the first place, last year we optimized all-over print product layouts. Previously, all-over print products generated 42% leftover fabric, but last year we lowered it to 35%. We hope to reduce this even more.”
